Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, March 5th 1948. At the age of sixteen Jean left school to work at the local repertory theatre as a Student Assistant Stage Manager/Electrician. Aged eighteen she moved to London as Assistant Stage Manager on "The Killing of Sister George" with first, Beryl Reid, and later with Hermione Baddeley. She subsequently toured the show as Stage Manager. At the age of twenty she became the youngest and first ever female Chief Electrician in London's West End at the Duchess Theatre, responsible for the lighting on such shows as "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris".

In 1969 she took over the lighting board for the production of "Hair" at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Other productions Jean has worked on include "Cabaret" with Judi Dench at the Palace Theatre, "The Old Country" with Sir Alec Guinness at the Queens Theatre, "Canterbury Tales" with Wilfred Brambell at the Phoenix Theatre and many, many others. During 1974 she was Sound Engineer at London's Royal Court Theatre. In 1975 she moved to the Roundhouse Theatre as Sound Engineer and it was while working there that she met Vincent Crane of Atomic Rooster and Crazy World of Arthur Brown fame. Vincent was the Musical Director for a production there by Stomu Yamashta's Red Buddha Theatre Company, "Raindog". Jeannie circa "Hair"

Jean and Vincent married in April 1977 and she then worked with Vincent as Tour Manager & Chief Accountant for Atomic Rooster, working the occasional follow spot or humping gear when the Roadies were missing, doing the Lighting for such gigs as the Heavy Metal Festival in Zegreb, September 1982, even contributing some lyrics and backing vocals.

After Vincent's death in 1989, Jean moved to Herefordshire where she still lives today, running a smallholding with cats, dogs, goats, ponies and sheep. Her involvement with the Music Business continues and she now manages a Website dedicated to Vincent Crane's Atomic Rooster.
